Background
The original Disaster Recovery Information Exchange (DRIE) Ottawa Chapter Scholarship was created in 2006 by a member donation with a further five-year funding commitment. From 2011 to 2014, the Scholarship was managed by the DRIE Ottawa Executive Board and was funded by membership dues and corporate sponsorships. In 2014, Dr. Wayne Boone volunteered to become the lead sponsor. Tragically, Dr. Boone passed away as the result of a motor vehicle accident on June 20th 2015. In recognition of his significant contributions to the field, the Scholarship was renamed in Dr. Boone’s honour.
DRIE Ottawa wants to ensure the continuance of this $500.00 annual scholarship and in so doing, recognize and assist deserving students. This is made possible by private member donations and membership dues. Additional private donations will assist in sustaining both the Scholarship award and anticipated future DRIE awards.
